My Story

Date into Rescue: 11/15/22

Reason for being in rescue: stray

Special Needs: Loretta Lynn is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Loretta is a labradoodle and will shed lightly. If you have allergies, please consider a standard poodle.

What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner and someone who is home more than they're away. Loretta finds happiness with her people. She is a happy-go-lucky type gal who doesn't get offended easily. She gets along with any dog that gets along with her. She thinks cats are cool from a distance. She could co-exist with a cat mate but Loretta will require training to help her learn space. She is a bigger dog with kid like curiosity. Everything is new to this gal. What she has learned, is she loves people and would love them all in any shape or form. She is friendly enough for babies, but Loretta is also clumsy sometimes and could mistakenly knock a little one off their feet. Loretta is clean in her crate and would benefit from having a crate in her new home. She feels this is a safe quiet place to rest.

Loretta was brought to the farm as a stray so we do not know anything about her past. Therefore, we do not know how she will be in a home when unsupervised. Crating her while her family is away would be the safest. She does seem to know basic cues and enjoys doing so for food and praise. She does need reminders on how to walk like a lady on leash, but with positive reinforcement and consistency, we believe she could learn anything.

What is my personality like: Loretta is fun, outgoing and a little mischeivous. She likes to explore her surroundings and meet everyone who comes near her. She will explore all day and then come home and lay by your feet while waiting for pats and cookies. She's part lab- of course she loves cookies! Loretta is happy to meet new and old friends. She thinks she likes to play fetch, but she doesn't fully understand the game. She will run and jump and roll around the yard and follow a ball or stick, but she doesn't always bring it back. We believe she does enjoy water. She likes to play with the hose when filling water buckets. This is entertaining for all for a long while! Best helper when watering the garden or filling the puppy pool during the hot summers right after a fresh new haircut! Loretta Lynn is fancy at your feet but she is also wild and free in her heart and spirit.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Loretta has yet to meet a stranger. She eagerly approaches anyone with tail and butt wiggles. Happy smile and tongue hanging out, comes straight to your feet and politely sits down while awaiting the expected head pats. Promptly followed by the pawshake reminder you can't stop petting her once you start.

Tips and Tidbits: Loretta Lynn was found as a stray so we have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 11/15/2020.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
