My Story

Date into Rescue: 11/27/2022

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release - Shannon was part of a group of 16 dogs released to rescue.  He is most likely a puppy that did not sell

Special Needs: Shannon is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative

What kind of home would be best for me: Shannon has lived a short life of breeding up until now. His life has been sheltered and his only socialization was with other dogs.  Now that the stress of being one of many intact dogs in a breeding facility is over, he’s decided his job is to play and play hard - it is his outlet.

This guy has an unmatched zest for life. He is happy and curious. Shannon needs and would love a home that is active. He could be matched in a home with or without other pets. If there's another dog, it should be an active and large dog that doesn't hold grudges or mind being bossed around a bit but not too submissive. If there isn't another dog, Shannon is a bit on the higher energy level and will need an alternative outlet. He hasn't mastered his leash skills yet but the more walks you go on the better he'll get. He likes to run around and his curiosity would make for the best hiking adventure dog.  Absolutely no small dogs - he gets very upset when he sees a small dog and we cannot figure out why.  For neighborhood leash walks, your going to need to work with this.

What is my personality like: Shannon is a super fun guy. He is young at heart and soul and wants to be involved with everything and everyone. He is full of life and has a lot of energy to blow off. He likes to play with most large dogs but sometimes his past sneaks up on him and he'll feel the need to get on top of everyone. Not all dogs like to be climbed on and Shannon has no idea what personal space is.

Shannon enjoys his people and once they teach him how to be a part of their family we believe he'll be an excellent dog. Training will be easy as he is super food motivated. A crate in the home is highly suggested.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shannon might give off a quick bark or two but once he knows you're friendly he becomes a wiggly and just wants your attention. He is super friendly and will give kisses.

Tips and Tidbits: Shannon was 18 months old when surrendered to rescue. We celebrate his birthday as 7/14/2021.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
