My Story
Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/Piper came to us with a group of 16 total dogs released to rescue. We assume as the senior in the group that she has had more than one litter of puppies.
Special Needs: Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 12/28/22 Piper had a dental polishing
What kind of home would be best for me: Piper has never had a real home as near as we can tell. It’s time. She wants a home with a fenced in yard, she is happy as your pet (you will need a bit of patience, she has a lot to learn and is eager to do so) and other large dogs would be okay too although we think she would be fine as an only dog. Piper is currently living with our director and dogs both large and small. She is accepting and gentle with all of them. Her best friend is a little pistol of a puppy named Toby who she adores and treats like her puppy.
Piper has never been around kids that we know of. We think older (over 12) kids who are gentle would be just fine. Piper is clean in her crate and would be ok with you being gone during the day. She will need a day time dog walker to come let her out if you work all day. She would love someone who stays home or works from home. She is low energy and would be very happy with short walks or even just a bounce around the yard.
What is my personality like: Piper wants you to know that age is just a number. We were told she is 9 and she looks and acts like a dog who is still young at heart but also has a few years on her and the experience to go with it. She still loves to play but also knows how to show her calm and gentle lady like side.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Curious but not overbearing. She reserves her affection for those she knows but earning her trust just takes some food and time. Did you bring treats -that will make all the difference.
Tips and Tidbits: Piper’s estimated birthdate is 12/31/2013 based on what we were told. She looks and appears about that old.
House trained: Piper is clean in her crate currently and when she is allowed access to her living area, she is clean. We think she will house train easily. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
