My Story

Date into Rescue: 12/3/2022

Reason for being in rescue: Hoarder seize

Special Needs: Eleanor is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 01/04/2023 Eleanor had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Eleanor is a shy, under-socialized girl looking for a home with experienced rescuers. She requires another large, confident dog in the home to learn for. Eleanor has never lived without dogs and needs not only their guidance, but also their comfort. She is not suited for a home with young children. She has never lived with cats. Everything - and we mean everything - is scary to this girl. Eleanor is very noise reactive and not cut out for city living. Slow and steady is going to win the race.

What is my personality like: Eleanor was surrendered as part of a hoarding case. As is common in these dogs, she is accustomed to living in close quarters with other dogs and is more comfortable with dogs than people. Everything you teach this girl will be new. Every experience will likely overwhelm her at first. Eleanor has a ton of potential, but she is going to be a project.

Eleanor is VERY timid. In a group of dogs, she is very submissive and stays as far away from people as possible. When she is one-on-one with humans she is curious and warms up with a calm, patient style. She will require her handler to have clear guidance and boundaries to ensure she becomes a well rounded dog. Eleanor will dart out of a gate if given the opportunity. She will need to be taught to give space and wait to be released and this may take some time and lots of patience before she understands she does not need to dart out based off fear. She is comfortable and clean in a crate and we would suggest her having one in her new home. Eleanor has also proven, even though she hasn't had much experience, she has been good for grooming.

It has been said that the best things in life are the things you earn. This is never truer than with Eleanor. This beautiful girl has so much potential, but needs a quiet, patient, experienced family to help her realize it!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Very shy. Eleanor will take a lot of patience and understanding. Once she feels safe and comfortable we believe she will come around and be excited to greet people.

Tips and Tidbits: Eleanor is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 12/3/2015.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
