Biography

Why am I with a rescue group? Winston is a unique guy. He has been thru a few homes and a couple rescues during his life. It got to the point where he was so unaccepted, his family, desperate for help, found out about CPR and drove him to us from Colorado.

An unstable life before CPR has made him a little uneasy and a bit anxious. He doesn't like to be left out because in his mind he will be left out alone. He will bark and run in circles for a bit. He is currently on medication to help ease some of his anxiety. We believe if you provide a stable and fulfilled life with this guy being part of your plans, these behavior traits could diminish.

Otherwise Winston is a well trained and obedient pup, though unpredictable. He walks like a calm gentleman on leash. He is crate trained and stays clean overnight. He knows all the basics and responds very well. He's not one to play with other dogs. He doesn't mind them and could live with or without them. He does have a prey drive so cats in the home will probably present issues. He can also resource guard and is especially fond of our food trailer.  If your around and he is around, he may not let you out. And he means it.  He does not want anyone messing with his stash.

Winston can be a little off putting. He may make eye contact, probably a bark or two and will sit just far enough away. He doesn't like to be petted by strangers. Once he warms up he will allow a head pat but he's not an overly affectionate dog to new people.

Winston is part of our sanctuary program and with his troubled past, will probably always be a resident at the poodle farm.  It's okay. We love making a safe space for those who don't trust and don't understand suburban life.  Here is safety and acceptance.  Winston, your part of our gang and we will take care of you.

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more! r having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate.
