My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/1/2023

Reason for being in rescue: found as a stray in eastern Tennessee

Special Needs:  None noted - he was severely matted when picked up by animal control so was put on a course of antiobiotics to help his skin heal after shaving and neuter.  He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and tested and is free of heartworms.

What kind of home would be best for me: Spunky Einstein! What a name and what a guy.  Our best bet is this guy is one of the many young adult dogs we are now seeing 2 years post-COVID. This is just a guess - that he was purchased as a puppy to keep someone company and then life went back to normal and Spunky was forgotten. We have no idea of what his actual back story is, only that somewhere, at some time, he was taught that people are cool and he wants to be with them.

Spunky is a fun-loving, large dog looking for a home that will take that intelligence, his confidence and his willingness to learn and go places with it. He could do therapy work. He could do barn hunts. He could do..well, just about anything. Jogging partner and/or best friend,

Spunky is active and needs an active lifestyle. This is no couch potato! Spunky's home will make him an integral part of the family and understand that dogs are for life.

What is my personality like: Super outgoing and confident, Spunky has learned that humans want to be looked at in the eye and when he does that, very cool things happen like play and walks and rides. Spunky was dog tested at the shelter. We are working on introducing him to dogs here. So far he seems just fine.

Spunky is definitely a doodle - however we make no guarantees of hypoallergenic nature on any doodle (and we do not care what any breeder says - it's a crap shoot every time). If you must have a hypoallergenic dog, please consider a purebred standard poodle. If you like a low shedder who will help you keep the house clean by keeping the majority of his hair to himself and his groomer, Spunky may be your guy. He will need regular grooming.

How do I act when I first meet new people:  New people are new friends he can't wait to meet.

Tips and Tidbits:  We have no pedigree and no birth records on Spunky so we base his birthdate on things like teeth, eyes, activity and general overall condition.  He appears to be a young adult.  He was originally estimated at 5 but after we got the mats off and the fun guy came out, we've revised that.  Our best estimated birthdate is 2/30/2020.

House trained: Spunky is currently clean in his crate.  That is the first step.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
