My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/6/2023

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/retiring after she had 3 litters

Special Needs: Pepper is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 01/25/23 Pepper had a major dental with 6 extractions. Pepper is half of a bonded pair with her best friend Layla. THEY WILL NOT BE SEPARATED AND WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TO A HOME TOGETHER.

What kind of home would be best for me: First and foremost, we are looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 dogs. Pepper is bonded to her best friend Layla. They have always lived together and will not be separated. We are seeking a home with an owner who has rehabilitated a shy and under-socialized dog and understands what it takes.  It is so satisfying - but patience is the key.  We are all confident Pepper will thrive in a quiet, structured environment that gives her the time and gentle attention she needs.

Pepper needs a quiet home, adult-only, and she must have her sister Pepper in her home. She is great with all small dogs and did not mind the standard poodle we introduced her to. She has not met cats yet although as laid back as she is, she probably won’t mind them a bit. If you are not interested in adopting 2 dogs, please do not apply to adopt Pepper.

What is my personality like: Pepper is shy and uncertain of people. She came in very shut down but is opening up slowly to us. We think in a home she will continue to expand her horizons although she will never be a social butterfly.

When she thinks we’re not looking, her caregivers have seen her playing with other dogs.  She needs other dogs in her life, preferably dogs her own size and with low to medium energy. Pepper is a couch potato and Netflix kind of girl. She loves big fluffy beds. Her favorite sport is sleeping.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Pepper will not interact with you although she will take a treat from your hand. Pepper loves food. This is going to help her learn to trust you.

Tips and Tidbits: Pepper’s birthdate is /26/2018.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
