My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/9/2023

Reason for being in rescue: owner release

Special Needs: Memphis is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.  Memphis has food allergies we believe.  He does poorly on chicken.  He does great on a fish based diet.

What kind of home would be best for me: Memphis is a young, active dog whose life has been turned upside down by circumstances outside of his control. He's been raised in a home with a female and is currently most comfortable with women. This is not to say he isn't good with me, he just needs a little more time to warm up to males. Memphis is good with dogs of all sizes. He is okay with cats, as long as supervised. We've never observed him playing rough with a cat, but he is a big boy and could accidentally hurt a cat. Memphis would be good with mature children that have grown up with dogs.

Memphis loves people - even more than other animals or treats. His ideal home has someone home during the day (work from home, active retiree, home school, etc.). He could be your only dog or could live with other dogs.

What is my personality like: Memphis arrived in rescue as an owner release; unfortunately life can be unfair very suddenly. His owner could no longer care for him the way he deserved, but they were selfless enough to realize that before it was too late and THAT is what is important. Him being surrendered was no fault of his own whatsoever.

Memphis has spent the majority of his five years being someone’s spoiled rotten baby and he knows how to work it for sure! He was described to us as s very loving, happy, playful guy. His first two days at the farm, he struggled and was unsure of us but when those 48 hours were up he realized that we wanted nothing more than to help him and he finally let his personality through and lived up to his description. Since that day, he has been the happiest boy alive! He wakes up everyday with what seems to be the absolute best outlook on life and a smile on his face. He is ready to find his human who understands that he may takes things a tad bit slower than anyone else, but he promises that his love is worth it.

When first meeting someone, Memphis may be the slightest bit shy but he quickly gets over it. He doesn’t dislike men, but he surely loves him some women. If he had to choose between a female presence but no more treats, he would lose treats forever! You can 100% tell he was a momma’s boy through and through. The more love for Memphis to give and receive, the merrier! Memphis also wouldn’t be mad if he had some human siblings, 5 years old and up of course! Memphis loves children, especially the ones who like to run and play. He is so smart and knows that he has to be extra careful with them! They are not like his hairy, four legged friends!

Memphis has always been around other dogs and gets along with all dogs, big and small beautifully. He does get along with cats as well, but only with supervision. He means them absolutely no harm but he plays a little too rough with them. Memphis has a play group that is always gaining new partners almost every day! He genuinely enjoys romping around the yard with a dog his own size, but he is not too good to play with the small babies either! Memphis would love to have another fur-sibling in the home, but it isn’t an automatic deal breaker for him if he doesn’t have one!

In his previous home, Memphis was crate trained and potty trained. With that being said, coming to a new place can sometimes be confusing and hard to keep up with all of the routine and schedule changes and accidents can absolutely happen, but so far he has been such a tidy boy! Just please try to keep in mind that new environments, new routines and sometimes even new feelings can make this all change!

Memphis is a simple man, but one of his absolute must haves is a fenced in yard. He would be thrilled to go on daily walks with his new loving family, but sometimes a guy just has to let loose and get some backyard zoomies in! Memphis is by no means off the wall hyper or energetic, but he is a young dog who needs his space and freedom to run sometimes.

Memphis isn’t completely infatuated with food but he does enjoy a nice, juicy treat to reward him. He is very gentle at taking the treats from your fingers and is able to sit and wait oh so patiently for his time to take it! Memphis is extremely smart, beyond ready to learn and so eager to please his humans. All of that and throw in a few treats, and you guys will be having yourselves a ball with training this young man! He is so bright, and ready to learn.

Memphis is beyond ready for his next chapter in life, and he would love it if the pages were filled up with YOU! If you are looking for the most loyal, loving companion then Memphis is your guy!

How do I act when I first meet new people: A little cautious, but friendly. Memphis likes to take introductions slow and steady.

Tips and Tidbits: Memphis's birthday is 11/25/2017

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
