My Story
Reason for being in rescue: owner release
Special Needs: Greta is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Greta has been treated for sarcoptic mange and cleared medically. On 2/14/23 she had a dental polishing. Our vet noted a scar that is indicative of a previous spay. Because exploratory surgery to find organs that do not exist is difficult and painful, we opt not to do so. Greta will be placed on a spay contract. If she goes into heat, she can be spayed at our CPR vet at no charge to her adopter as long as the adopter will bring Greta to Spartanburg. If she goes into heat and you opt to spay at your vet, the cost will be on the adopter.
What kind of home would be best for me: To meet Greta is to fall in love with her. A petite body with a will to survive greater than the strongest force. Greta's story is one of survival. She has lived through homelessness and loneliness and loss. Now is her time to shine! Greta is looking for a home where she will be the princess she was born to be. She has always lived with another dog and is seeking a home with another dog for play and comfort. Greta prefers to be with people. Given this, we are looking for a home where someone is home during the day (retirees, work from home, home school, etc.).
What is my personality like: Greta came to CPR in January of 2023. When she came in this poor girl was covered in sarcoptic mange and extremely emaciated. In the three months that she’s been here she has made phenomenal progress and has undergone treatment for her mange. She has put on some much needed weight, been afforded time for her body and spirit to heal, and is now ready for her forever home.
Since arriving at the farm Greta has blossomed into a happy go lucky girl who loves affection. Greta does well with other dogs and enjoys engaging in play. Greta would do well with another dog in the home to be her buddy and help her adjust to a new environment. She has always lived with another dog.
Greta’s ideal home would be with someone who has a lot of love to give. This girl will follow you to the ends of the earth, she loves her people. An owner who is home more than away would be perfect for her. She is by definition a Velcro dog. Every time you turn around, little miss Greta is at your feet. Greta is highly food motivated, which will be a great way to train her to perform basic commands.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Greta's birthday is 7/15/2020
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
