My Story

Date into Rescue: 1/25/2023

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Jesse is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Jesse arrived in rescue with a mass on his abdomen and an abscess on his right him. The mass has been removed and the abscess drained and treated. He has had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Jesse has never known life as a pet. He is learning about routine in rescue and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement. Jesse requires an experienced owner. Patience, routine and time are going to be key. Jesse has moderate to low energy, and would do best in a home with a dog around his age with the same energy level to learn from. Jesse would benefit from a home environment in which he can be around his people, but also do things independently. He does well with other calm dogs, and would prefer to lounge around all day rather than play.

Jesse has never lived with cats or small dogs. He has never been trained not to chase them. Given this, he will not be placed in a home with small animals. Jesse is looking for an experienced dog owner who can give him the routine that he needs.

What is my personality like: Jesse is a  9 1/2 year old Standard Poodle who has lived all of his life in a breeding facility. This boy knows very little about being a true pet - everything you teach him will be new.

Jesse is very shy, and takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people, so slow introductions are preferred. He walks deftly on a leash but has lots of room for improvement. He knows a few basic commands, and is very gentle around people. Jesse is very willing to please his people and will do just about anything to receive love and affection.

Jesse is not a high maintenance boy, and would be content doing whatever his people are doing, as long as he can be included.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Shy

Tips and Tidbits: Jesse's birthday is 8/25/2013

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
