My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/1/2023

Reason for being in rescue: stray

Special Needs: Granola is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Granola's eyes had to be removed due to the extent of damage when he was found. He is blind. He's had a dental. He has a grade 4/6 heart murmur and will require ongoing monitoring of his heart. He also has some general skin allergies and requires regular flea and tick prevention.

What kind of home would be best for me: Granola is a special boy looking for a home with a heart for a special boy. He is vision impaired and needs a home that will offer him a safe place and consistent routine to navigate the world around him. Granola can live with other quiet dogs, but will also be happy as the only dog. He is indifferent to cats. We do not know if he has ever lived with children; as long as they are gentle he would be fine. Granola is looking for a home full of soft beds, gentle pets and quiet moments. He'd love it if you were home during the day, but it isn't a requirement.

What is my personality like: Granola was found as a stray and brought to rescue by caring citizens. We believe wandering into the yard of compassionate humans was his luckiest day. Granola had fur matted to the bone, eyes that were raw with sores, and was generally a mess. We've left his "before" photo on his profile photos so that you can see what arrived at our rescue. Sadly, both of his eyes had to be removed.

Despite being in terrible physical condition (and likely pain) he has a sweet and gentle demeanor. This laid back boy loves soft beds, lap naps, and snuggles. He LOVES food and will eat anything you put in front of him. Granola loves the feel of sunshine on his face and grass under his feet. On warm days he enjoys sunbathing on the patio in a soft bed. Granola lives in rescue with other dogs but is completely indifferent to them.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Granola was found as a stray so we have no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 10 years old.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
