My Story

Date into Rescue: 2/2/2023

Reason for being in rescue: breeder release

Special Needs: Redmond is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative

What kind of home would be best for me: Redmond is a beautiful, young dog with tons of potential and limited experience. Everything - and we mean everything - that you teach him will be new. He has never lived as a pet, never done stairs, never slept in a bed, never been on a hike, never known what true companionship looks like. For all of this, he has a gentle demeanor and a strong desire to please.

Redmond is not for a first time dog owner. He absolutely requires a home with another large dog for play, socialization, and to learn from and model behaviors. He needs a home that will offer him the grace and time and patience to learn to be a dog. It will not happen overnight, but it will be worth it. Milo has never lived with cats or children. He is not suited for a home with young children.

What is my personality like: Redmond is a male standard poodle, just over a year old who came to CPR as a breeder release in early February. While Redmond is still very nervous about this big, exciting world, he truly wants a family who will love him wholeheartedly and give him all the affection possible.

Redmond has never known life as a pet, but is very curious to see what it’s truly about. Redmond may take a little longer to warm up to new people, but when he does finally confide in you and let his guard down, his love shines bright. Redmond is a bit quirky and a bit goofy once comfortable, and is sure to make you laugh. He loves to sniff everything out and make sure his surroundings are safe before fully opening up. He has shown to be crate trained, but his leash skills, basic manners, and house training still need work. Since Redmond is still very young, brain stimulation activities would greatly benefit him. He does need a fenced in yard, as he loves to explore new things.

Redmond needs a home with a family who has lots of time and patience, as things will need to be slow with him for a while. After all, he does still have many things to learn about being a pet. Redmond would do good in a home with another older dog who can show him the ropes and will lead him by example. Although he has never been loved as a pet, his love grows more and more everyday.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid, but curious

Tips and Tidbits: Redmond's birthday is 11/17/2021

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
