My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Kevin was pulled from a NC shelter.
Special Needs: Kevin is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Kevin is blind and deaf. There is nothing that can be done. When placed on the floor, Kevin dances and prances in a circle; this is not uncommon for dogs that are both blind and deaf.
What kind of home would be best for me: Kevin needs an experienced dog owner who will be patient and understand that this little guy needs a lot of love and care. Although this boy cannot see or hear, it doesn’t stop him from embracing the world around him and enjoying life. Kevin’s ideal home would be low to moderate energy. Kevin would benefit from having a low energy, laid back dog to keep him company but would also do well without a furry friend. Kevin will need a lot of love and care within the home, and needs an owner who is able to help him find his way in the world.
What is my personality like: Kevin is an 8 month old maltipoo who was pulled from a North Carolina shelter in late February of 2023. Kevin is deaf and blind and has his own way of exploring the world. Kevin is a happy boy who loves to prance around in the sunshine on warm sunny days. While he may face some obstacles due to his disabilities we believe that Kevin can adapt and come to live a long and happy life.
Kevin is THE HAPPIEST boy you will ever meet. He loves the feel of sunshine, the smell of fresh grass, and dancing to his own beat. Kevin also loves to be held and snuggled and is perfect in a snuggle sling.
Kevin is a special boy looking for a home that will appreciate all the beautiful things that make him unique!
How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly
Tips and Tidbits: Our shelter paperwork suggests that Kevin was 2 years old. However, based on the condition of his teeth, our veterinary has re-aged him at 9 months old.
Kevin is not hypoallergenic. There is some shedding.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
