Biography
Why am I with a rescue group?
Denny
was found wandering as a stray. He's so happy to be here at CPR. Being blind and wandering around unable to see was very scary. Living out on his own he developed some skin issues that we are working on too.
Denny arrived at CPR in February 2024. He tends to be very cautious because of his blindness. The caregivers are working with Denny and helping him feel more comfortable with each and every day.
Here's Denny's side of the story....
I’ve been labeled a grumpy old man. Maybe I am. I mean when I’m napping in the sun and the other dogs run into me or try and play with me, yes, that makes me mad. Who enjoys being woken up while dozing in the warm sun? Not me! If that means I’m a grumpy old man, so be it.
I also hate being put in a crate and tend to mess in it. Who wants to be in a crate, and at my age I can’t hold it overnight. If that makes me a grumpy old man? So be it. But if you pay attention, I am very routine oriented and well house trained. I know that you are supposed to potty outside.
Because of my skin condition my caregivers give me a medical bath every day. They aren’t so bad, but I hate getting dried off afterwards. They say I have an attitude about it. I don’t think so, why can’t I just shake it off?
My caregiver has me figured out. She calls me a grumpy old man with a heart of gold and added once you get used to my quirks and requirements, I’m just an affectionate sweetheart. She knows I have a hard exterior to hide my marshmallow heart.
Anyway, I’m safe and comfortable here at CPR. I know finding me a forever home seems about as likely as me seeing again. But I can’t complain. CPR is an amazing place to live. I get plenty of food, treats, fresh water, heat and blankets in the winter, and A/C during the hot, humid summer months. They even provide the medical care I need.
Sponsorship
Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick, or hard-to-place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs. If I have medical challenges I need even more! The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest. Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support! Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions? Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org
