My Story
Reason for being in rescue: owner release
Special Needs: Dexter is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 04/09/25 Dexter had a dental with extractions.
What kind of home would be best for me: Dexter thrives in a calm, quiet environment. He’s a bit skittish and would do best with an adopter who can offer him a peaceful home—perhaps active retirees or someone who is home most of the day. Dexter had grown accustomed to having his human around all the time and would be thrilled to have that again. However, he’s understanding if you need to step out for a short while.
This lovable guy doesn’t need a fenced yard, as he is strictly an indoor dog. He’ll be just as happy in a home or an apartment. Dexter also gets along with other dogs and cats, but he would prefer to be the only pet in your household. He enjoys being the center of attention and doesn’t want to share that special bond with anyone else.
What is my personality like: Meet Dexter, your new best friend. Dexter is a sweet and gentle boy who’s looking for his next forever home. Unfortunately, he’s a return visitor to CPR, and we’re hoping his new family will help him find the love and security he craves. Dexter was surrendered to us when his previous adopter entered hospice care. His owner’s final wish was for Dexter to be spoiled and cherished in a loving home where he can continue to live as the little prince he is.
Dexter enjoys a walk or two a day and might love a trip to the dog park now and then. He’s the perfect companion for outings like a quick grocery run or a visit to an outdoor café—Dexter would love to finish off the day with a pup cup! He’s a wonderful, affectionate dog who simply wants to be by your side, giving and receiving love.
Dexter’s previous owner loved him dearly, and while he’s a bit confused about why he’s back with CPR, we know he’s ready to move on and find the next person who will cherish him just as much. He deserves to find a family who will give him the attention and love he craves.
If you’re ready to open your home and heart to Dexter, you’ll be rewarded with boundless affection, joy, and companionship. Dexter is waiting for the right person to make his world complete.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Dexter is cautious when meeting new people. He enjoys being loved on but prefers a slow, gentle approach. Once he gets to know you, he’ll be your best friend for life.
Tips and Tidbits: We estimate Dexter was born on or about 3/31/2019.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
