My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender for liking chickens too much.
Special Needs: Gabriel is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative.
What kind of home would be best for me:
Gabriel was surrendered due to his natural instincts; he and his brother, Wesley had a run-in with some chickens on the farm where they lived. While it may sound alarming, Gabriel was simply following his instincts. Because of this, he will not be adopted into homes with cats or small dogs.
Gabriel would be happy as an only dog or just you best friend. Gabriel is simply looking for some love in this big crazy world. Gabriel is looking for an active family that will take him on adventures and expend his energy with him! He loves to be outside romping and playing. A furry friend in the house would be great, but he would also love dog parks (with bigger dogs). Or just playing with you at the park or in the backyard.
What is my personality like: Say hello to Gabriel, a spirited five-year-old poodle bursting with charm and fun ideas! He’s smart, high-energy and needs lots of physical and mental exercise every day.
Gabriel is looking for an adopter who can provide him with a home free of small creatures but lots of toys and activities. Gabriel will be a great companion or hiking buddy. This big boy still acts like a puppy and enjoys playtime more than anything. He is eager to please and listens well. His caregiver notes that he is food-friendly, incredibly sweet, and an all-around fabulous dog. Gabriel already understands the command "crate" "wait" and "sit" will happily do so when asked.
Because Gabriel is smart and wants to please his people, training him should be a breeze. He'll need to master basic commands like stay, down, and come, and he’ll need some leash training as well. This time spent teaching him will help strengthen the bond between the two of you.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Gabriel loves people and enjoys playing with them.
Tips and Tidbits: Gabriel was born on 9/18/2019
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
