My Story

Date into Rescue: 09/25/2024

Reason for being in rescue: Mr Fluffer was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Mr. Fluffers is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Mr. Fluffers is not hypoallergenic and will shed.

What kind of home would be best for me: Mr. Fluffers is a young, active dog. Found on the streets, he was very scared during his intake at the animal shelter. We can't blame him! Once he arrived in a foster, his personality started to shine! Mr. Fluffers enjoys people but can be a little timid at first. We don't recommend him for homes with children under 10 as too much sudden activity may make him nervous. Mr. Fluffers is good with dogs of all sizes and indifferent to cats. He would be happy as the only dog in a home where someone is home more than they are away. What Mr. Fluffers really wants is a person. He's looking for a home where he will hang with you during the day (on a dog bed is just fine), chill on the couch in the evenings, and sleep in the bed at night. These are non-negotiable.

What is my personality like: Mr. Fluffers was found as a stray. He was matted, dirty, and really uncertain about the people that trapped him. Uncertain means that when he arrived at the shelter, he barked and growled when strangers approached him wearing scary gloves and shoving needles into his body. Can you blame him! We'd run scared too.

Mr. Fluffer is an amazing dog. He can be a little nervous at first, but give him 5 minutes and some treats and he will give you his heart. He has a mouth full of young, pearly whites that he loves to share in a smile. He knows nothing about personal space and simply wants to be touching you. He is always up for adventure and a happy participant in play with the large and small dogs in his foster home.

Mr. Fluffer rides great in a car. Leashes are okay, though he needs some work. He enjoys pup cups. He knows nothing about house training but is trying really hard to learn. He will be a great candidate for positive reinforcement training. His long legs and scruffy face will waltz right into your heart.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Mr. Fluffers can be a little shy when he first meets you. Bring a treat and a squeaky toy and he'll be in your lap and ready to play in no time!

Tips and Tidbits: Mr. Fluffers was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 2 years old. We celebrate his birthday 09/25/2022.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
