My Story

Date into Rescue:10/5/24

Reason for being in rescue: Gambit was found as a stray and landed at a NC shelter, injured. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter.

Special Needs: Gambit is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Gambit arrived in rescue with a few broken toes. He was found as a stray so we don't have any backstory. The veterinarian's orders were 6 weeks of splint, no surgery. He may walk a little different for the rest of this life, but at his size, we figure he'd rather be carried for any distance anyway!

What kind of home would be best for me: Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! Gambit is looking for a home with another small, active dog for play. He loves play time with his foster brother and simply happier with a companion. His ideal home is with someone home more than they are away (e.g. work from home, home school, active retiree). Gambit would love kids - just 8 or older please as he's a small boy. Gambit is not hypoallergenic and will shed.

What is my personality like: You won't meet a happier dog than Mr. Gambit. He's young, enthusiastic, and simply radiates personality. Gambit LOVES toys! He loves to play with other small dogs. He loves to be held. He rides great in a car (though he prefers sitting in your lap), walks decently on a leash (though no long walking until his toes have healed), and sleeps comfortably in a dog bed at night (we're certain he wouldn't mind snuggling up in bed beside you). This happy-go-lucky guy is always up for adventure and eager to be someone's best friend!

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Gambit was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall condition, we believe he's under a year old. We celebrate Gambit's birthday 1/25/24.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
