My Story

Date into Rescue: Marlee Mary arrived originally in rescue in 2016. She was quickly adopted. Sadly, she returned to rescue in January 2023 due to no fault of her own (life changes for her owners).

Reason for being in rescue: surrendered by owners

Special Needs: Marlee Mary is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. She has mature cataracts in both eyes, but navigates beautifully. Marlee Mary is a diabetic. She takes 5 units of insulin after each meal. Her diabetes is well managed. As you can see in her photos, Marlee is vision impaired. She is scheduled for restorative vision (cataract) surgery on March 23, 2023.

What kind of home would be best for me: Marlee Mary is looking for a quiet retirement home. Given her insulin dependency, an owner that is home during the day is required. Her asks are simple - daily strolls with her human(s), a lap to snuggle her, soft beds to lounge in, and a bed to sleep in. Marlee Mary will be fine living with other dogs, or happy to be your only princess. She is indifferent to cats. She could live with children over 10.

What is my personality like: Marlee Mary is a mature gal who is looking for a home to give her the peace and love she so desperately needs. This girl is such a sweetie at heart and doesn’t know a stranger. Despite her age, she still loves to venture around and explore her surroundings wherever she may be. She would do best in a quiet, low traffic home as an only dog or with another furry calm companion. While she does still have a bit of energy in her soul, she does also love to kick back, relax, and snooze on any fluffy bed or couch.

Marlee Mary is a wonderful girl who has had a rough life prior to CPR. Given her history, this girl hasn’t let it change her perspective on the world and she is still just as curious, sweet, and adventurous as ever before

How do I act when I first meet new people: Friendly

Tips and Tidbits: Marlee Mary is almost 11 years old. We celebrate her birthday as 05/27/2012.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Thank you for considering CPR!
