Biography
Charlie was surrendered by his breeder in 2017 with several other dogs. The breeder informed us that Charlie did not do well with small animals, and we quickly found that Charlie does not do well with any animal of any size. Because of Charlie's lack of tolerance of other animals, he has been with us ever since.
Charlie loves humans very much; he is eager to please his caregivers and you can frequently find him snuggling into them. Charlie is true to lab nature; he dances for his caregivers and will sing the song of the lab until he gets the attention he wants! Charlie is a very smart dog; he has learned many tricks during his time in rescue. He knows to sit, down, and shake, he knows which door to go to when it's time to go outside and he knows which run belongs to him! Charlie also knows where the feed room is! Charlie is a foodie and is always looking for a spare crumb! He can at times can be protective of his food bowl, over the years we have taught his caregivers to leave his bowl with him until he is ready to go outside again. Ignoring his food bowl has significantly improved his attitude toward the bowl being taken up.
As Charlie has aged, he has begun to show small signs of dementia. He gets lost occasionally and seems to forget what he was doing from time to time. Charlie likes to spend most of his days snoozing in the sun and enjoying belly rubs. Charlie used to be much more active in his prime, we don't catch him chasing tennis balls much anymore. He is much older now and takes life at a mellow pace nowadays.
Charlie all around is a great dog, he has a few quirks that make it harder for us to find the right home for him, but we love him regardless. Charlie's perfect home may or may not be out there, we keep searching and keep a loving staff here at the farm to give Charlie what he needs.
Sponsorship
Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs. If I have medical challenges I need even more! The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest. Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support! Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions? Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org
