Tessa's story is an interesting one. Adopted from us in 2018 as a puppy Tessa spent the last 8 years in a home. When we received a message in May 2026 about Tessa potentially returning, we answered immediately. There was a lot going on, behavioral changes, biting episodes, reactions to noises, but the family ultimately decided to keep her at that time.

Then in July 2026 Tessa's luck ran out. She had to come back. Another bite, another change in behavior. When Tessa arrived, we immediately knew she needed a vet. Hip problems, specifically "

chronic DJD right hip and lumbosacral disease" notes directly from her diagnoses.

So, we started her on pain meds, and it was great for a while. Tessa was up as available and even had a few meet and greets. But then a drill was used near her and she bit again. Then a car alarm went off. Another bite. It is unpredictable and happens fast. One moment she is fine and the next she is a completely different dog. We have no idea why some noises are fine and why some noises aren't, but Tessa is safest at the farm where "man made noises" are at a low.

Tessa is why we have a sanctuary program. A dog who loves and loves hard. A dog who is unpredictable. A dog who needs a safe space to live on their terms.
