My Story

Date into Rescue: 02/26/2019

Reason for being in rescue: Tyrone was part of a group of 37 dogs seized from a hoarder's home. CPR partnered with a local shelter to help these animals.

Special Needs:

What kind of home would be best for me: Tyrone needs a somewhat active home with owners that can sympathize with his past and give him all of the love he deserves.

What is my personality like?  Tyrone arrived here at the rescue under very unfortunate circumstances. Given those circumstances, he felt like he had to be on constant defense mode. Who can blame him: When your wold is turned even more upside down and you don't understand why, you do what you can to protect yourself. We are pleased to be able to tell people that Tyrone is no longer that dog! What once was a raging, terrified, unsure dog is now a silly, very affectionate and trusting dog. He has put in the work of overcoming his own insecurities and now it is time for him to find his forever home!

Tyrone has been nothing but friendly to new people coming into his area. He is very excited to see people, especially the people he knows! Tyrone does great in his play group but he does not like to share his toys, he will growl but eventually gives in and lets the other dogs take his favorite hot dog toy. Tyrone really enjoys playing fetch! He could spend from sun up until sun down chasing a ball for you. He is content in his kennel but he really wants to be out with his humans. Tyrone does not typically try to escape his own play yard but if his pals are doing it, he follows behind. This boy loves his treats and food, he needs to learn to be more gentle when given treats. Tyrone wants to be someone's constant companion!

How do I act when I first meet new people: He may growl at first but it only takes a few treats to win him over!  YOU MUST HAVE DOG EXPERIENCE, PREFERABLY WITH A DOG WITH KNOWN AGGRESSION ISSUES AND/OR STRONG TERRIER PERSONALITY EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR TYRONE.

Tips and Tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 2/26/2016. Tyrone has been a project in progress. We don't know what his past has involved, but it clearly has not been kind, he has already made tremendous progress, and we look forward to seeing this boy's full smile shine through!

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
