Biography

Fritz arrived in rescue as part of a feral colony. He was likely born outside, lived outside for much of his life, and has never been a pet. Since arriving in rescue in 2020, Fritz has learned that sleeping inside is okay and has learned to love his crate as a safe place. As safe as a crate is, Fritz's heart still belongs almost exclusively to dogs. He tolerates people and has learned that his caregivers are here to help, but his socialization skills with people are very limited.

Fritz is best in a quiet, consistent, and patient environment. During his time here at CPR has learned to trust his caregivers. Fritz has learned he can trust us to give him a safe place to sleep and that he won't go hungry. His caregivers have been working to gain his trust with hand feeding and working on his leash walking. His leash walking is still a work in progress. Fritz is very food motivated and will take food from your hand. When taking for from you he will, at times, allow you to pet him. Fritz does very well with the routine and structure here in rescue.

Fritz is curious yet wary when he meets new people. He is great with all dogs. He is the leader of his pack here in rescue. Fritz has never lived in a home and knows nothing of what home life looks like. Could he be adopted? Yes, to the right VERY experienced rescuer that has adopted and rehabilitated feral dogs. Is he a major project? Yes.

Fritz has potential. In a low-traffic home with another confident dog and experienced, patient humans, we believe he could learn to be a companion. It will be a journey. It will take time and consistency. But the best things in life are frequently worth working for. Until and unless the right home comes along, we are so happy to have Fritz lives his life with us in rescue.

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog!  I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more!  The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest.  Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate.
