Willie’s owner reached out to us for help.  

Willie can be a bit too rough and has a tendency to not want to share his toys or space with anyone who might want to take it. In his past he had a fur sibling that tried to play with his toy and Willie did not like this and bit his brother. His brother had to spend a few days in the hospital because he's a little cheweenie and Willie is a big beast and left his brother with some bite holes. This is why he was brought to us to help him find a home that he can mature and be properly loved and understood. Willie is a very large dog with a strong alpha personality. It is manageable, but in the wrong home could be a challenge. Willie has a past, but it doesn't have to define his future. 

This guy is just a big boy puppy with big feet! He doesn't realize how big he is while he's playing. Willie Nelson is very smart. He has been to obedience class as a 1yr old puppy. He excelled and moved on with his life. Willie had grown up a bit without structure-which he craves and excels in. His mom took him to a 4 week training camp. He also excelled there. He is now treadmill trained, uses a head halter on walks, he knows how to sit and wait for food and at thresholds, he's crate trained and house trained.

Even though Willie knows all this great stuff, he can not be allowed to get away with being mischievous. Willie wants to obey and impress his people, but if this isn't clear to Willie, he will try to get away with naughty bad boy things such as counter surfing, stealing food, using his body to get away or keep his treasures. He has learned if he gives a little side eye or flicker of his lips people will back away. Willie has been trained to trade but he also knows if he's not going to get away with it - he won't do it.

Willie is a pretty hefty dog who uses his body to push people around. He is learning he must sit and wait for people to invite him into their space. He acts this way because he is so happy and wants to meet everyone. He wants to jump up and say hello with wet sloppy kisses - but this dog is just too big be allowed to act like that. Some people who meet Willie Nelson are fearful of him. 

Willie Nelson must be greeted with little to no excitement. His handler will ask Willie to sit and wait and once Willie gets over the first smells and maybe a cookie or head pat, then he can be introduced to say hello but all four paws must stay on the ground and still little to no excitement to keep Willie from knocking anyone over.
