My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release
Special Needs: Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Cooper does have some dental tartar, as noted in his vet records. He will likely need a dental in the next 12-18 months.
What kind of home would be best for me: A home with another friendly dog would be ideal for Cooper, though an adopter with rescue experience who is committed to providing regular, positive dog interactions outside the home could also be a great match. While he is familiar with handling, Cooper is still new to the experience of living in a home. Everyday household life will be a learning process for him, and he will need patience, kindness, and steady guidance as he learns routines, house manners, and basic training while settling into an indoor environment.
One important thing to know about Cooper is that he is currently very afraid of the car. This is an area where he will need an adopter who is dedicated to helping him build positive associations through calm, consistent, and gentle exposure. Avoiding car rides altogether will not help Cooper overcome this fear - he needs someone willing to work with him patiently, celebrate small wins, and make the experience a safe and reassuring one.
Cooper is looking for a calm, stable, and predictable home where he can settle in at his own pace. Loud or constantly changing environments may be overwhelming for him, and he will thrive best in a peaceful setting with understanding humans who allow him the time he needs to feel secure.
What is my personality like: Cooper is a beautiful 3-year-old white Standard Poodle with a gentle soul and a bright personality just waiting to shine. At first, Cooper presents as soft, thoughtful, and a bit reserved as he takes in the world around him. He likes to observe, assess, and feel safe before fully settling in - but once he does, his true personality comes out. Cooper becomes bouncy, happy, and playful, showing off his joyful side and reminding you just how much fun a poodle can be.
Cooper does well with other dogs and feels most confident around calm, polite canine companions. He is not a fan of pushy or overwhelming dogs, but he absolutely benefits from having another steady dog around to help guide him and boost his confidence. Cooper has been routinely groomed and is at ease being handled and standing on the grooming table, so maintaining his coat should be a smooth and stress-free part of his care.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Cooper need just a little time to settle in and then you have the sweetest boy who loves to smile and wag his tail at you just because you live.
Tips and Tidbits: We do not know Cooper's exact Birthdate. We celebrate his Birthday as 2/19/2022.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
