Biography

Why am I with a rescue group?

Beanie was one of dozens of dogs seized from a home as part of a hoarding case. He had never been touched, never even named. Matted to the bone and covered in filth, Beanie never knew what human touch was until arriving in rescue. Wrapped in a towel, he shivered as we picked him up from the shelter to transport him to his foster home.

We will never forget Beanie's first night in rescue.... Placed in likely his first ever dog bed, he crawled out and got on the hard floor. An hour later, foster mom found him asleep in the cold bathtub. It is all he's ever known.

Beanie is a young dog for whom the early, formative year was very, very cruel. He knows nothing about human touch and is incredibly fearful. He's graduated from sleeping in a bathtub to sleeping on a soft bed in a contained area for his safety. He's made close friends with a stuffed dog that he cuddles with. He will occasionally take a treat from his foster mom.

With Beanie, it's 50 First Dates every day. Every day you start over. Every day he gains a very little bit more confidence. Slow and steady wins the race every time. Time, patience and consistency are the key to healing this little boy's heart. And time, patience and consistency are exactly what our sanctuary has to offer.

We hope that one day Beanie will be ready for a home of his own. It may take a year, or 5 years, only time will tell. We're in it for the long haul!

Sponsorship

Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs.  If I have medical challenges I need even more! r having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support!  Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions?  Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org
