Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release
Special Needs: Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 08/25/25 Daisy had a dental polishing.
What kind of home would be best for me: We are looking for a very specific home for Daisy. First, Daisy requires a home with another small, calm, confident dog. She needs a leader and guide. Second, Daisy requires a home with a physically fenced yard. She does not like to walk on leashes and is a flight risk. Third, Daisy needs an owner experienced with rescue. This girl has come so far. Her forever family will see her potential as purpose and help her continue to grow. Finally, Daisy needs a calm and quiet house. No children. Low travel. She is a home body that wants to be in her house with her core family unit. She doesn't want to see the world - you will be her world.
Simply, Daisy needs a family that will meet her where she is for who she is and love her as she is. It will take time, but she will give you her heart. There is no greater reward.
What is my personality like: Daisy was one of 15 dogs that came to CPR from a breeder we had never worked with before. We relieved the pressure that others were putting on her to downsize the day we picked up 15 of her dogs and she was supposed to call back with more but then went silent. There were many dogs still there that needed out. We hope they are safe.
Of the 15 dogs, Daisy is the only one who has not been adopted. Most of the dogs were friendly enough that we could work with them. Daisy was the exception. She was shy and shut down and absolutely uninterested in humans. She lived in rescue for 18 months. In mid-2025 Daisy moved into a home with an experienced foster mom that has been working with her extensively. Daisy has come so far and is now ready for a home of her own.
Daisy is shy at first. New situations and new people make her nervous. She is still learning what this big world is all about. But in the comfort of a quiet home with people she knows and a routine that she is familiar with, Daisy flourishes. Gone is the shy girl, replaced with a calm and gentle soul that wants nothing more than to be loved. She sleeps snuggled up in the bed with her foster humans at night and is especially partial to morning bedtime snuggles when the whole house is just waking up.
Daisy has never known life without other dogs. With too many dogs, she gets lost in the pack. With a small, confident group, she follows the leader and is a more confident girl. Daisy understands that grooming comes with being a poodle, and requests that her groomer goes slow with her. She has absolutely no aggression, she is just fearful of new environments and people. The same is true for trips to the vet. She's a pro but needs a calm and gentle veterinarian that will meet her where she is.
Walking. Sigh. Daisy simply does not like to go for walks on a leash. Her foster mom has tried. She's gotten her out of the house on a harness and leash. But Daisy simply does not want to go. Daisy does love to ride in a stroller. She thinks fresh air is best enjoyed from the comfort of wheels!
There is something magical about watching a dog learn to trust the world that it lives in, and that is never truer than with Daisy. Has her time in rescue been longer than we expected - absolutely. Has she made the most of every moment - undoubtedly. Is she ready for her forever home - definitely.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Daisy is very shy. She will not run up to meet you and will likely cower if you try to approach her. Slow and steady wins the race with this girl.
Tips and Tidbits: We were told that Daisy was 1 year old when she was surrendered to rescue. Her intake paperwork has a date of birthday of 07/13/2022; this is also the date on her medical records. Two different veterinarians have treated Daisy over the last year and shared feedback that she is older than an estimated currently 3 years old, more likely 5-6 years old. Her foster mom agrees. This would put her birthday in 2020 or earlier. However, all of her records state 07/13/2022 as her birthday. It is imperative that you understand this discrepancy. If you are confirmed about the exact age of your dog, Daisy is not your dog
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
