My Story

Date into Rescue: 03/26/2025

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release

Special Needs: Nathan is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 03/03/26 Nathan had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Nathan gets along very well with other dogs, especially those similar in size, and he truly needs another canine companion in the home. Having a calm, confident dog friend helps him feel more secure and gives him a role model to follow as he learns what life as a loved pet looks like. Playtime with other dogs is one of the ways Nathan’s personality really begins to shine. Whether it’s a playful wrestling match, running along the fence together, or sharing joyful zoomies in the yard, he absolutely thrives when he has a dog friend by his side.

Because Nathan is still learning to feel safe in the world, he will not be placed in a home with children. A household that is calm and predictable - without constant activity or chaos - will allow him to truly settle and grow. Nathan isn’t looking for a busy home filled with loud noises and constant comings and goings. His dream life is simple - a peaceful environment, a cozy place to rest, a steady routine, and people who understand the value of patience.

For someone who understands the healing power of patience, the comfort of routine, and the joy of earning a shy dog’s trust, Nathan could be the perfect companion. In the right home, with the right people and a dog friend to guide him, Nathan is ready to settle in and finally experience the safety, stability, and love he has been waiting for.

What is my personality like: Nathan is a shy and sensitive soul who needs adopters willing to let him move at his own pace. He does best with calm, confident people who understand that not every dog rushes headfirst into new experiences. Some dogs bloom slowly - and Nathan is exactly that kind of dog.

Nathan often hangs back at first, watching the world quietly with his thoughtful eyes. He isn’t the first dog to rush up for attention, but when he begins to trust you, something truly special happens. His affection is gentle and sincere - the kind of love that grows slowly but runs incredibly deep. Nathan may never be the life of the party, but he will happily be the quiet presence at your side, the soft shadow following you through the house, and the steady companion who brings calm to your life.

Nathan enjoys the simple things, like soaking up the sunshine and relaxing in a peaceful space. He’s also quite intelligent and has been doing well with potty routines here at the rescue. Leash walking is still new to him, so he will need gentle encouragement and guidance as he builds confidence in that area.

Though he may appear quiet and reserved at first, Nathan has a playful side too. Around dogs he trusts, he can play with the joy and energy of a carefree puppy. What truly makes Nathan special, though, is the depth of his heart. Once he decides you are safe and worthy of his trust, he gives his love fully and sincerely.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Nathan warms up slowly, but when he loves you, he loves you with his whole heart - quietly, deeply, and forever. Trust will come with time, patience, and a gentle approach. If someone moves too quickly, he may retreat, but if you allow him the space to come to you, his confidence will begin to grow.

Tips and Tidbits: Nathan's birthday is 11/22/2023

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
