My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Pepe showed up at a caring citizen's home. They were unable to address his medical needs so surrendered him to rescue.
Special Needs: Pepe is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. on 07/14/25 he had a dental with extractions. Pepe has a grade 2/6 heart murmur. He is not currently on medication for this. Pepe has no vision. Since arriving in rescue his right eye has been removed. His left eye has a mature cataract. Given his age, we have elected not to attempt restorative vision surgery. He's also had a dental and lost 2 teeth. Pepe is a senior dog.
What kind of home would be best for me: Pepe would thrive with a family who has plenty of time to spend with him, soaking up his affection and letting him be the devoted little shadow he longs to be. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving soul to brighten your days, Pepe is ready to steal your heart.
What is my personality like: Meet Pepe, our sweet old poodle gentleman who’s simply looking for love in this lifetime. Don’t let his age fool you—Pepe is still spry and gets around beautifully. He’ll bounce happily in front of you when he wants attention, and he’ll melt right into your arms when it’s time to snuggle. Pepe is also an Olympic champion cuddler—and he’s always ready to show off his gold-medal skills!
This determined little survivor has so much love left to give. He enjoys small adventures, like walks around the neighborhood or a trip to the park, but he’s just as happy spending the day curled up in your lap. Pepe gets along wonderfully with other dogs, though he doesn’t absolutely need a canine companion—what he really wants is you.
How do I act when I first meet new people: Pepe is a dapper, kind gentleman that enjoys making new friends. His lack of sight has not dulled his ability to see the light in humans!
Tips and Tidbits: Pepe was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. He's definitely a senior guy. Our veterinarian has estimated his age at 10 years old. We celebrate his birthday 07/10/2015.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
