My Story

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder release/retiring.

Special Needs: Pluto is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 08/20/25 Pluto had a dental polishing and had a hematoma repaired on his ear. Pluto has been treated for hookworms.

What kind of home would be best for me? What Pluto is looking for is peace and quiet — a calm, loving home with someone who sees and respects his sensitivity. Once he feels secure, you’ll find a loyal little companion who expresses affection in subtle, meaningful ways: sitting nearby, following you from room to room, or curling up in a cozy spot just to be close. Pluto isn’t a good fit for a home with children or a lot of visitors. He’s not the dog who wants to be scooped up, dressed up, or fussed over before he’s ready.

While he doesn’t absolutely need another dog in his forever home, having a calm, mature canine companion would be a comfort to Pluto. He’s not looking for a playmate or a puppy — just another steady presence who’s content to nap nearby or quietly share space.

Pluto isn’t suited for a home with children, frequent visitors, or a lot of social bustle. He’s not the type of dog who wants to be fussed over, scooped up, or expected to charm every new face he meets.

What is my personality like: Like his name suggests, Pluto may be small — but his personality is truly out of this world. This tiny Mini Poodle is a sensitive soul who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. But Pluto doesn’t rush for anyone. He absolutely needs time — time to observe, time to decide how he feels, and time to build trust on his own terms.

Pluto has made wonderful progress here at the farm, especially with the help of other dogs who make him feel comfortable and secure. Pluto has strong opinions about who belongs in his world. If he decides he doesn’t like someone, he means it — and that feeling may never change. He’ll make that boundary clear, usually with some barking or avoidance, and it’s important that his people respect that.

Pluto isn’t a dog you “win over” with treats or tricks. He’s a dog you earn — slowly, gently, with patience and respect. And once you do, he’ll be your steadfast companion, small in size but enormous in heart. For the right person — most likely a woman who understands his language and honors his boundaries — Pluto will be a loyal friend for life.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Meeting Pluto will go one of two ways. If he deems you worthy, he'll offer a sniff and a steady eye. If he doesn't, he will bark to make his boundaries clear. He's a picky boy and we're here for it!

Tips and Tidbits: Pluto's birthday is 10/16/2021

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
