Reason for being in rescue: Breeder surrender

Special Needs: Desmond is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 09/12/2025 Desmond had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Desmond has never known life as a companion. He is accustomed to dogs (lots of them) and routine. You will teach him what being a pet means. The good news - Desmond is a happy dog that is eager to learn. His forever home is with a family that can offer him consistency and routine. A family that understands he has never lived in a home and is not house trained but is trying. A family that either has another dog or has a plan for socialization 4-5 times EVERY WEEK with other dogs. Desmond has never known life without canine companions. A family with an abundance of patience to go the distance with this special boy. Ideally, a family that has rescued before.

What is my personality like: Meet Desmond, a darling little toy poodle with a heart as soft as his curls. This sweet and playful boy came to us after being surrendered by a breeder, and now he’s ready to learn what it truly means to be a cherished family member.

Desmond is still getting the hang of the world outside of kennel life—things like leash manners, house training, and daily routines will be new to him, but with patience and guidance, he will blossom into a wonderful companion. He’s a bit timid with people at first, but his trust builds quickly, and once he knows you, Desmond will greet you with the happiest little dance every time you walk into the room.

Because he has always been surrounded by other dogs, Desmond would do best in a home with a confident canine friend to help show him the ropes and keep him company. His gentle spirit and playful nature make him a joy to be around, and with the right family, Desmond will thrive and give endless love in return.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Desmond's gentle spirit steals your heart as soon as he walks into a room.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to /follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.
