My Story

Date into Rescue: 09/08/2025

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder surrender

Special Needs: Griz is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 09/15/25 he had a dental polishing.

What kind of home would be best for me: Griz has never known life as a companion. He is accustomed to dogs (lots of them) and routine. You will teach him what being a pet means. His forever home is with a family that can offer him consistency and routine. A family that understands he has never lived in a home and is not house trained but is trying. A family that has another dog - this is non-negotiable. Griz has never known life without canine companions. A family with an abundance of patience to go the distance with this special boy. Ideally, a family that has rescued before.

What is my personality like: Meet Griz, a stunning silver toy poodle whose gentle soul is just waiting for the right family to help him discover what it means to be truly loved. Griz is a sensitive little boy who has spent his life in a breeder setting, so the big, open world is still very new and often overwhelming to him. What he needs most is a home filled with patience, kindness, and understanding—a place where he can slowly learn that he is safe, cherished, and free to blossom into the companion he was always meant to be.

Griz is shy by nature and will require time and space to acclimate to his new home. He isn’t looking for a household with the hustle and bustle of children or constant activity, as that would be too overwhelming for him right now. Instead, he would thrive in a calm, predictable environment where his people are willing to move at his pace.

Because he has not had the chance to live as a pet before, Griz will need gentle guidance on all the basics of being a well-loved companion. Simple things like house routines, leash walks, and handling are brand new concepts to him. At the moment, leashes are scary, and the idea of a walk feels intimidating, but with time, positive experiences, and encouragement, he has the potential to grow more confident.

When it comes to affection, Griz asks for understanding. He doesn’t enjoy being grabbed or picked up suddenly, and he needs to feel secure before he can relax. What he does appreciate are soft, slow pets offered with patience, and once he learns to trust, his sweetness begins to shine through. Building that trust may take time, but for the family willing to invest in him, the reward will be a deeply special bond.

One thing Griz has always loved, however, is the company of other dogs. In fact, another small, confident dog in the home is an absolute must for him. Having a canine friend by his side helps him feel safe and provides him with the guidance he needs to learn how to navigate life as a pet. A companion dog will show him the ropes, give him reassurance, and teach him how to carry himself with the confidence of the handsome boy he truly is.

Griz may take time to come out of his shell, but with patience, compassion, and the right environment, he has all the makings of a deeply devoted and loving companion. He is ready for a family who can see past his initial shyness and believe in the wonderful dog he will become with love.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Griz is shy. You must go slow and steady with this boy. Once he is comfortable, he is an absolute delight.

Tips and Tidbits: Griz's birthday is 02/26/2023

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to /follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
