My Story
Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners to a NC shelter
Special Needs: Louise is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Louise had pyometra when she was spayed. Louise is half of a bonded pair with her sister / best friend Thelma. They will not be separated. If you don't have room in your heart for 2 tiny chihuahuas, these are not your girls!
What kind of home would be best for me: Louise is half of a bonded pair with her sister / best friend Thelma. They will not be separated. If you don't have room in your heart for 2 tiny chihuahuas, these are not your girls! Louise is looking for a home with a family that understands her breed. She and Thelma would prefer to be the only pets in your home. They really don't want to live with children. They require that you allow them to sleep in the bed.
What is my personality like: Meet Louise - All 50 pounds of personality packed into a mighty 5-pound Chihuahua. True to her breed, Louise is very particular - about her people and her doggie friends. She doesn’t give her heart away easily, but when she decides you’re hers, she loves deeply, fiercely, and forever. Seized in a cruelty case, we have no idea what life was like for Louise before arriving in rescue. We do know that it's made her a bit skeptical - we can't blame her. In foster she's learned that humans are actually pretty cool, and kind, and have lots to offer. She just needs time to learn your routine.
That love shines brightest with her sister, Thelma. These two are completely inseparable - always together, whether they’re sleeping side by side, snuggled up in a tiny heap, or bouncing around playing. Where Thelma goes, Louise is never far behind.
Small in size, enormous in spirit, and loyal to her core - Louise is the definition of a tiny dog with a giant heart and an even bigger attitude.
How do I act when I first meet new people: ouise is going to scope you out before showing you love. With a sassy little side eyed shade, she watches before she engages. We promise the snuggles are worth the work!
Tips and Tidbits: Louise is estimated at 1.5 years old. We celebrate her birthday 04/02/2024.
House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Potential Adopters
Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.
Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
