Meet An Adoptable Dog

About Me

Name: Sunny Jan 26
Sex: Male
Spayed/ Neutered: Unknown. Sunny appears neutered although we have no documentation about that.  He will be placed on a neuter addendum that states that while we did not do the surgery, there are no obvious signs of testicles.
Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)
Weight: 20 lbs
Height: 12 in at the shoulder est

Fence Needed: Sunny is active. His best bet would be a fenced in yard to run around and play in to exercise his need for speed! If he does not have a fence, we need to ask you for your firm plan in place for walks a minimum of 1 mile at least twice per day and 3 times per week off leash exercise for a minimum of 1 hour per session. This could include dog parks, doggie day care or play dates with friends with dogs.

My Story

Date into Rescue:1/28/2026

Reason for being in rescue: Sunny came from a shelter in New Mexico

Special Needs: Sunny is current on vaccines and heartworm negative. He had a dental cleaning on 02/13/26 with a good oral report card after the cleaning.

What kind of home would be best for me: If you’ve been looking for a hiking partner, adventure buddy, or an enthusiastic sidekick for an active lifestyle, Sunny is your guy. And when the day winds down Sunny thrives on attention and interaction. He enjoys other dogs, especially those who can match his energy and play style. He tends to do best with female dogs, though he can also get along well with males who are respectful and not overly pushy. He could live happily with another calm, compatible dog or be successful as an only dog in a home that gives him plenty of exercise and engagement.

Because of his speed and high activity level, Sunny would do best in a home with older, considerate children. He may be too quick and underfoot for anyone who is unsteady on their feet or has balance concerns.

What is my personality like: Sunny is an absolute love bug with a motor that just doesn’t quit. He adores people and is happiest when he’s on the move - whether that’s out on the trails, exploring new places, or racing around the yard like a little rocket. He’s more than happy to curl up for some well-earned couch cuddles.  In the yard, Sunny is fast - think race car with zoomies- and he will absolutely need regular physical activity to keep him happy and balanced. He loves toys, enjoys playtime, and is clean in his crate.

Please note, Sunny came to us via an angel in an 18-wheeler who brought him to us from a shelter in New Mexico.  The shelter is small, rural and struggling. We help all we can.  When he first arrived, he had been at the shelter since October 25 and shelter paperwork says he could bite (any dog can bite given the right circumstances).  While he was not crazy for his vaccinations, once we got past that, he's been nothing but love and light for our staff here at the poodle farm.  He's a sensitive soul so we are recommending an experience dog lover who knows about dogs with opinions and willing to help him form the opinion that you, his new human, is cool.

Sunny is full of heart, energy, and affection. In the right active home, he will be a devoted, joyful companion who brings excitement to every adventure and warmth to every quiet moment.

How do I act when I first meet new people: Sunny love people places and things, when Sunny first arrived in rescue it took him a couple of days to settle in but now he is a speed car of love!

Tips and Tidbits: We have no real paperwork on Sunny so are using what little we have.  His estimated birthdate is 7/8/2024.

House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Potential Adopters

Please note - we do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting a dog, take a look at the distance between the dog's location and your location and make sure you are able to make the trip.

Thank you for your interest in a dog who needs a new home. This description contains all that we currently know about this dog. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. When screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, age, temperament, personality, etc. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.
