Foster Adoption Meet & Greet

Congratulations – You have been approved to adopt from Carolina Poodle Rescue.

We are excited to meet you and look forward to introducing you to some of the wonderful dogs that are part of our rescue. Please review the information on this page in its entirety to ensure you are fully prepared for your upcoming Meet & Greet with Carolina Poodle Rescue.

How does meeting the dogs work? Do I get to pick my dog?

When you arrive at the foster home, we roll out the red carpet for you. With an average 15 dogs on the property at any time and with our free range environment, we do not invite visitors into the house to browse the house and pick out dogs – our setup is far different from what you are used to. Our foster home has carefully selected 1 to 3 dogs that we feel fit most closely with your family, your schedule and your environment. We have also reviewed your wish list and if we feel these dogs will be a fit, and if they have not been adopted, we’ll happily introduce you to them. Often our list and your list jives. Some people are happy with the very first dog they meet. Others meet more than one. Each adoption is different and unique.

Dogs are brought to meet you in our adoption center, a heated and cooled dedicated space that we hope allows you to see dogs as they will be acting in your home. Yes, there will be other dogs in the home and many will bark to say hello.

What if I have cats? Am I expected to bring my cat to the Meet & Greet?

We understand most cats don’t travel well and prefer to stay home. Whenever possible, we strive to test our dogs with cats in advance of your meet and greet.

Am I going to be asked to sign anything as part of the adoption?

YES. Please review the attached contract – you will be asked to sign this. You do not need to print it out or bring it with you. It is for your review to make sure you can agree with our legal requirements for care of your new dog and, if ever needed, return of your dog to CPR. We take canine lives seriously.

Do you have any additional resources to help me prepare for my new pet?

We are happy to be a resource for you. Please visit our Resources for Adopters page.
