Biography
Why am I with a rescue group? Intake date - 5/21/25. Oliver was brought to us from his owners who, loving him very much, realized they did not have the time or skills to rehabilitate a dog who had never lived in a home until he came to them.
Oliver was purchased as an "older pup" in early winter of 2024. We know for 7 months, these dog loving people tried. They hired a behaviorist and two trainers to come to their home. They used a mobile groomer who they also asked for advice. They used a mobile vet so he would not be scared by going to a traditional vet office. Yet for 7 months, Oliver refused to come in the house. His canine companion, a gregarious little bichon poodle, tried to show his new brother how to use the doggie door, how to come in the house, and how to love people but for Oliver, it was all too much and all too new.
In that first week of Oliver living outside in their yard and refusing to come in, they did finally convince him that the garage was okay. From there, he had a 10 x 10 of his own and he had heat and food and water. For Oliver, it was better than the outside pen we suspect he was raised in. They called the breeder who offered to take Oliver back, but they knew he would land right back in that pen and live there for the rest of his life. They called us instead.
Oliver is now at the poodle farm. He can be held. He can have a leash and collar put on him. He is not ready for a home for sure. He is ready to be loved. We can do that - with your help.
Oliver reminds us of many dogs we have had to come through who need more. More time. with his sponsors, we will give him all the time he needs.
Sponsorship
Can’t have a dog of your own? Have a soft spot for old, sick or hard to place dogs? It only takes a $20 a month donation for me to be your virtual dog! I need at least 10 virtual adopters (sponsors) to help cover my monthly costs. If I have medical challenges I need even more! The caregivers at Carolina Poodle Rescue will do the rest. Just think, without ever having to leave your home, you can have your very own online dog that will send you update emails, make Facebook posts, and be eternally grateful for your support! Go to the donate link at the top of the page for instructions as to how to donate. Questions? Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org
