Why am I with a rescue group?

Argus is a breeder release dog and has had far less life experience than your typical dog. He spent his first years in a rabbit hutch outside. He is still learning that life is fun and meant to be celebrated, not feared. He is shy, nervous, and needs time to settle before he trusts. He watches the world carefully before he acts, taking everything in with quiet curiosity.

Argus will need time, patience, and a lot of love to settle. He has never been someone’s beloved pet before and is learning what it means to be safe. He will need all basic training — house training, leash training, and crate training — and an adopter who understands timid dogs and can guide him gently.

He is playful and enjoys running around with his dog friends. A calm, quiet environment with another confident dog is essential for him. Argus is best suited for families with rescue experience and a slow, gentle approach. He is not ideal for loud or constantly changing environments.

Argus needs an owner committed to good medical care. He requires regular dentals and has bad knees that will need monitoring throughout his life.

Fun fact: Argus was an “allseeing” watchman in Greek mythology — and our Argus is an allseeing boy too. He watches before he acts!
