Beckett is a gentle, shy standard poodle who spent his early life as a breeder dog and was undersocialized, leaving a lasting impact on his confidence. He was returned to rescue after three years because he remained nervous and would dart or bump into things when startled. He may never be an “outgoingfriendlynothingphaseshim” dog — but he is sweet, quiet, and deeply loving once he settles in. It just takes time.
Must have: Another dog in the home (no exception), A calm, experienced adopter who is home more often than not and understands shy, undersocialized dogs.
Exercise: Low to moderate — enjoys short walks and quiet adventures.
Best with: A patient home; another confident dog can help him learn, a routine environment that doesn't change and gives him time to settle in, a family that will work him through his nerves.
Not ideal for: Children, busy households, or homes without a secure fenced yard.
Energy level: Mediumlow — laid back, gentle, and easygoing.
Beckett is crate trained, house trained, and an absolute sweetheart once he warms up. He is shy but warms up with time, and he wants so badly to learn how to be someone’s beloved companion.
Good with dogs: Yes — fine with dogs of all sizes; benefits from confident role models.
Good with kids: We would not recommend Beckett to a home with children.
Cats: Seems tolerant but has never lived with them.
Fun fact: Beckett has the sweetest most yearning eyes.
